Supported devices
Rockstar and Take-Two list Xbox Series X|S as the Xbox launch platform. Both the Series X and the disc-less Series S can install the game, because every version — including the boxed one — is delivered as a download.
Cloud streaming, Xbox One support and PC play through the Xbox app are not mentioned in the official GTA VI sources we checked. Do not buy on the assumption that any of them will work.
Which product are you buying?
| Product | What it is | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Digital game | Standard or Ultimate Edition licensed to your Microsoft account. | Microsoft Store on console or web, or the Rockstar Games Store and other retailers. |
| Boxed code | Standard Edition download code with the Vintage Vice City Pack. No disc. | Retailers; Rockstar expects availability from 12 Nov. |
| Ultimate Edition Upgrade | Add-on that upgrades a Standard copy. | Microsoft Store, after the Standard code is redeemed. |
Regions on Xbox
For this game, Rockstar Support states that codes purchased for Xbox are not region-locked. That is narrower than it sounds:
- It applies to GTA VI game codes as described by Rockstar — not to every Xbox product.
- Your Microsoft account country still decides the store you see, the prices and taxes you pay, the payment methods offered, and where store balance can be used.
- Rockstar still recommends buying from a retailer in the country of your platform account to avoid activation problems.
Gift card vs game code vs distribution rights
These three are often mixed up in "cheap key" offers. They are different things with different rules:
Gift card
Prepaid store credit for a Microsoft account. It is not the game itself, and store-credit cards are generally tied to the country they were issued for. Check the card's printed region and terms.
Game code
A one-time code that adds a specific product licence to one account. Once redeemed, it is used up and normally cannot be moved to another account.
Distribution rights
A contract with the publisher, platform holder or an authorised distributor that allows a business to resell codes. Owning codes or cards does not grant this right.
Whoever you buy from, check what happens if a code is late or does not work. GAMEKEY GLOBAL sells pre-orders with a stated delivery date and a full refund if it is missed — see the refund policy.
Activation without surprises
- Redeem codes yourself while signed in to your own Microsoft account — on the console's store or Microsoft's redeem page.
- Read the product shown before confirming: it should say Grand Theft Auto VI for Xbox Series X|S.
- Turn on automatic updates and keep storage free so the 10 Nov pre-load can finish before launch.
- Never give anyone your Microsoft account password or sign-in codes, whatever they promise.
What GAMEKEY GLOBAL does not promise
- We sell US-account Xbox Series X|S codes as pre-orders, delivered on your order page. We do not sell gift cards or accounts. See the terms of sale.
- We do not claim any partnership with Microsoft, Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive.
